Went to a Devil Rays game last night. For those who wanted to go and couldn't for reasons of illness, lack of funds and being too tired or basketball practice...you did miss one hell of a game. For the fans of defense, there were some good plays, 3-4 double plays(of the 6-4-3 variety) and the Rays absolutely destroyed the Yankees. Was truey enjoyable.
Sad though, the Indians don't come into town until August. I like going to sporting events, but i wish i lived closer to my teams. Just the feeling of being around fans that like your teams is fun.
Fun story. I'm a member of the scout.com family of sports websites. I was a yearly subscriber for awhile(and hope to be soon again) and i was chatting online with a guy inviting me to come to the Buckeyes bar in Brandon to watch Ohio State games with a few hundred as sick in the head Buckeyes fans every saturday. Well, while walking into the stadium last night somebody yelled in my direction "O-H" (which to those not in the know, is the chant Ohio State fans will yell to one another) i quickly replied with a firm and friendly "I-O) (spelling Ohio for you SEC Fans) After talking to this guy and his friends i quickly learned it was the same guy from the ohio state scout website that i had been messaging. Of the 20-30,000 people at the game last night i just happened to run into the same guy i had been talking to. Weird.
Anyway, i try and pull for the Rays. They're the hometown team and i've been to about 50 games of theirs but i've only actually rooted for them maybe 4 or 5 of the times i've gone. Twice i've gone more to root against teh Yankees and the rest mostly to root for the Indians.
People tell me i need a Florida Sports team to pull for. Well i like the Orlando Predators in Arena Football, and i guess i'll pull for the lightning in hockey(seeing as how Cleveland doesn't have a team) so yeah...fun fun.
